Michael Urquides • Fire Chief
Chief Michael Urquides was born and raised in the Monterey County Regional Fire District on a small ranch in the Old Stage Road area. His family roots have been traced back eight generations within Monterey County. His passion of being a firefighter was created by taking a firefighter class offered through the Regional Occupation Program (ROP) at Salinas High School his senior year.
After graduation he worked three summers for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as a seasonal firefighter, Chief Urquides entered the Volunteer Ranks of Monterey County Regional Fire in 1989. He was promoted to paid firefighter in 1990, and rose through the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain and Division Chief. He was promoted to Chief in 2006.
Chief Urquides obtained an Associate in Science degree in Fire Protection Technology from Monterey Peninsula College, a Bachelors degree in Human Relations, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration both from Golden Gate University. He has numerous Fire Service certifications including certified company officer, and chief officer.
Chief Urquides is married and has four children; his hobbies are mountain biking, and Sharks Ice Hockey.

David Sargenti • Division Chief
Division Chief David Sargenti was born and raised in an agriculturally based family within the Salinas Valley. At an early age, he dreamed of becoming a firefighter and of helping people. His first exposure to the fire service was through ride-a-longs in Southern California with his cousin’s engine company.
Chief Sargenti entered the Volunteer Ranks of the Monterey County Regional Fire District in 1995. In 1996 he was promoted to fulltime Firefighter and achieved the rank of Lieutenant in 1999. He was promoted to Division Chief in 2003.
Chief Sargenti obtained an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from Hartnell College, an Associate of Science degree in Fire Protection Technology from Monterey Peninsula College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Administration and Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Prevention from Cogswell Polytechnical College. He has numerous certifications through the California State Fire Marshal Office including: Fire Officer, Chief Officer and Master Instructor. Chief Sargenti resides in Salinas with his wife and three children. His hobbies include mountain biking, home improvement projects, and spending time with his family.

Ron Lemos • Division Chief
Division Chief Ron Lemos grew up in Carmel Valley and began his fire service as a volunteer firefighter with the newly formed Mid Carmel Valley Fire District in 1976.
Chief Lemos worked his way through the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, Captain and Battalion Chief before starting his full-time career in 1998. He was promoted to Division Chief in 2001, following a consolidation with Carmel Valley Fire District.
Chief Lemos attended Carmel High School and Monterey Peninsula College and has earned many accredited certifications through out his career in Fire Service. He also has been active on many professional committees, memberships and youth sports.
Chief Lemos resides in Carmel Valley with his wife of thirty years and has two grown children and one grandson. His hobbies include going to the lake with his family, fishing, hunting and the outdoors.
Miles Schuler • Division Chief
Division Chief Miles Schuler was raised in Carmel & Carmel Valley graduating from Carmel High School in the early 1980’s.
Miles entered the fire service in 1986 as a volunteer at Mid Carmel Valley Fire Protection District and, while going to college, was hired by Mid Valley Fire at the rank of Captain. When consolidation occurred between Mid Valley Fire and Carmel Valley Fire in 2001, he was promoted to Division Chief.
Miles holds an Associates Degree in Fire Science from Monterey Peninsula College and is working on a bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration, as well as holding California State Fire Marshall’s certificates in Fire Officer, Chief Officer, Safety Officer, Operations Section Chief. Miles also teaches Fire technology for Monterey Peninsula College.
Miles’ hobbies include; skiing, biking, hunting, fishing and most outdoor sports.
Eric Ulwelling • Division Chief
Division Chief Eric Ulwelling was born in Santa Clara, CA and raised in the coastal town of Santa Cruz with his parents and brother. Growing up near Monterey Bay and close to the Santa Cruz Mountains, Eric developed a lifelong interest in exploring the coastline and wilderness of California's central coast.
Chief Ulwelling entered the fire service in 1999, when he became the first Firefighter-Paramedic hired by the Carmel Valley Fire District. He promoted to the rank of Captain in 2006 and, following the consolidation of Carmel Valley Fire District and Monterey County Regional Fire District, to Division Chief in 2016.
Chief Ulwelling completed an A.S. in Fire Science from Monterey Peninsula College, a Bachelors in Humanities from the University of California, Irvine, and is a graduate of the Foothill College paramedic program. Chief Ulwelling has also studied at the University of Madrid and the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. His certifications in California include Fire Officer, Chief Officer, Fire Investigator, Public Education Officer and Fire Instructor.
He currently lives in Pacific Grove with his wife and daughter, and enjoys family time and trail running with his dog, Buddy.
Dorothy Priolo • Deputy Fire Marshal
Deputy Fire marshal Priolo was born in upstate New York and graduated from high school and college in Clearwater, Florida. Coming from a family with two generations of Volunteer Firefighters in Upstate New York, DFM Priolo moved to California just in time for the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake and joined the Monterey County Regional Fire District in 1990 as Fire Prevention Assistant.
With an Associate of Science Degree in Legal Secretarial Science from St. Petersburg Junior College, additional classes in the Paralegal program and background with various law codes as a Legal Secretary, she developed her career in Fire Prevention. She has continued her education at Monterey Peninsula College and under the mentorship of Fire Marshal Dave Shaw, who retired in 2000. She developed her plan review, inspection and code interpretation skills under Fire Marshal Shaw’s direction and served as a Acting Fire Marshal until Fire Marshal Shaw’s position was filled. Upon reorganization of the Fire Prevention Division, the position of Fire Prevention Assistant was redesigned as the position of Deputy Fire Marshal. DFM Priolo has completed the Level I and Level II Fire Prevention series of classes offered by Monterey Peninsula College and the California Fire Academy. DFM Priolo is married and has two children. She enjoys needlecrafts in her spare time, exploring local points of interest, and annual travels to the East Coast to visit family.

Marisela Arreguin • Administrative Officer
Marisela was raised in the Salinas area. She graduated from North Salinas High School in 1994. She came to work for Monterey County Regional Fire District January 2015 after working over 20 years as an Office Manager.
Marisela lives in Salinas with her husband and two daughters. Her hobbies are hiking, bike riding and spending time at the beach with her family.
Karry Kuntz • Administrative Assistant
Karry was raised in the Prunedale-Salinas area, where she was very involved in a local 4-H club and county fairs, softball and color guard. She graduated from North Monterey County High School in 1983 and attended Hartnell College. She came to work for Monterey County Regional Fire District in January 2008, after 25 years of banking experience as a Financial Service Representative.
Karry lives in Prunedale with her husband, two daughters, and various animals. She enjoys spending time in her yard, country dancing, horseback riding, camping, being with her kids and good friends.
